      Carolina 100% Whole Grain Brown Rice is a long grain variety which cooks up with a fluffy, slightly chewy texture and subtle nutty flavor. In contrast to traditional White Rice, Brown Rice has its cereal and bran layer still intact which gives it that brown color and unique flavor. If you’re looking to add more whole grains to your diet, brown rice is the perfect ingredient and can be used anywhere other rice varieties can.       Unspecified Cooking Directions on the Stove: 1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil (Cooking Measurement Chart: 1 cup rice 2 1/2 cups water 3 1/2 cups makes (cups cooked) 5 servings (3/4 cup cooked). 2 cups rice 5 cups water 7 cups makes (cups cooked) 9 servings (3/4 cup cooked). 3 cups rice 7 1/2 cups water 10 1/2 cups makes (cups cooked) 14 servings (3/4 cup cooked)). 2. Stir in rice (Add 1 Tbsp. butter and 1 tsp. salt per cup of uncooked rice, if desired). 3. Cover. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes or until all water is absorbed. Microwave: Cooking Directions in the Microwave (It is recommended that only 1 cup rice be prepared in the microwave at a time. Microwave ovens vary. Cooking times are approximate): 1. In a 2 1/2 quart microwave-safe dish, combine 3 cups water and 1 cup brown rice. 2. Microwave uncovered on high for 10 minutes. Reduce power to 50%, microwave uncovered for 20 minutes. Allow rice to sit for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve. Do not add salt or butter/margarine to the rice until after the rice is cooked.

      Brown Rice Storage: For longer shelf life we recommend storing brown rice in the refrigerator or freezer.
