      30 servings (1 cup cooked); 42 oz. oats; 1 gallon + 3 quarts (28 cups) water; 1 tablespoon salt (optional). 17 servings (1 cup cooked); 24 oz. oats; 1 gallon (16 cups); 2 teaspoon salt (optional); 8 servings (1 cup cooked); 12 oz. oats; 6 cups water; 1 teaspoon salt (optional); 2 servings (1 cup cooked); 3 oz. oats; 1-3/4 cups water; dash salt (optional). Preparation Directions: Direct heat method: In heavy saucepan, stir oats into briskly boiling salted water. Return to boil; reduce heat. Simmer 3 to 5 minute, stirring occasionally. Transfer to steamtable pan and cover. Hold on steamtable on medium (no 5 setting) up to 1 hour. Stir before serving. Steam-jacketed kettle method: stir oats into briskly boiling salted water.
